Winner of the 55 Word Challenge

Winner
The 55 Word Challenge

This week’s entries were awesome! I didn’t have an easy time. There were a few that really leaped out at me.  So without further ado…
Honorable mentions go to
The bitch was silent, too. She was perfect. This line just cracked me up. I love dark humor and this was a homerun.
This was a very well written revenge story and I thought the image that was conveyed with just 55 words, painted a wonderful story.
This story was more of a metaphor of a fly trapped in a web and I liked the uniqueness of it, compared to the literal interpretation of the photo prompt.

The Winner is, *drum roll*
This story was very mythical and heart breaking.

Is it absence, or urgency that makes the heart grow fonder?

Cecile danced naked in front of me, never looking more radiant. We dined. We frolicked. We loved without abandon, time slipping too fast.

Phantom pain stabbed my heart as I cradled her in my arms, and laid her down to rest another seven years
Leo wins a $5.00 gift card from either Barnes and Noble or Amazon and this Winners Badge.
Next week I will be participating in the A to Z BlogChallenge, so along with 3 photo prompts, I will have 3 subjects to choose from as well. I can’t wait, I’m so excited!

Honorable Mentions:
@LupusAnthropos
I loved the running of the dogs, replacing the bulls. Damn lawyers anyway, lol.

@Klingorengi
This had me laughing. Poor Evelyn and Charles, I can only imagine the hell they put each other through.

And the winner is:
@ModernBard1024

This was written beautifully and told a lot in just  55 words.  As winner, she gets this fancy schmancy winners badge and a copy of one of my E-Books.

Here is her story:
“They were quite romantic, Helen and Dick. You could feel it, they filled the room with love. They lived life. Did they survive?”

Shanna wrapped her fingers around the lamp, smiling at the emotions she felt. “They did,” she answered. Even objects had memories, no matter how deeply they had been buried by the sea.

55 Word Challenge Week 3

55 Word Fiction: Week 3

It’s that time for 55 Word Fiction! I hope you all are having as much fun as I am. For those of you not familiar with 55 Word Fiction, it is a story told in 55 words or less. It doesn’t have to be horror, though that is my favorite. However I am not the judge, last week’s winner is and whoever wins this week gets to judge next week. The winner will also win a cop of one of my e-shorts, either a pdf copy or I can give you a coupon from smashwords to download whatever version you prefer.

Below are a few examples of 55 Word Fiction

The Willow Tree
By Lisa McCourt Hollar

He felt the breeze blow through his hair and imagined her voice whispering in his ear.  He sat under the willow tree, remembering  the last time they had spoken.

“I saw you, don’t deny it! I’m telling everyone what you did!”

He chuckled. Hard to speak when you’re dead and buried beneath a willow tree.

Last week’s winner was Bumfuzzled with his 55 word story, Supper Time. He will be the judge this week.

    Supper Time
By bumfuzzled

    Dinner came to those who waited patiently around the table. The apple in Dinner's mouth looked like a gag from some seedy BDSM shop in Lower Manhattan. Dinner's head--the only part left to move--swung. Dinner's fear-filled eyes took in their smiles, as they picked up knifes and forks.

A really close 2nd was Thomas Scopel with this story

Being Bugged
By Thomas Scopel

My palm itched. I scratched deeply. Digging harder, surface blood flows, forcing flaky bits of red tainted flesh underneath my fingernails. They’re not long enough and the itch dives deeper, fades from my palm, into my wrist, and begins striking up my arm. My nails follow and I feel unclean. The worm is moving again…

Ok, so the only rule is to have fun and keep it at 55 words  or under. Post in the comment section below. If for some reason you can not post it...sometimes blogger gets a bit wonky, then email me your submission at jezri@writing.com and I will post it for you. Now GO!

55 Word Fiction
 It is time again for 55 Word Fiction! Write a story in 55 words or less and place it in the comment section below. The contest will end at midnight tonight. Tomorrow our 2 judges, Stacey Turner and Jenelle Jenson, who won last week, will announce the winner, (or winners). The winner will get to judge next weeks contest as well as win a free copy of one of my e-shorts!

Now if you don't know what 55 word fiction is, here is an example.

Dinner Music
by Lisa McCourt Hollar

Stacey opened her eyes. What had happened? She’d been walking home, thanks to her cars meltdown and something had come at her. Suddenly she screamed, remembering what she had seen before falling and hitting her head. No one heard her though, except the half man…half something else and to him, her screams were dinner music.

And these stories from last weeks winners!

The Ghost
by Stacey Turner

The hairs on the back of John’s neck stood up. Psychic, he knew how his body reacted before he saw a ghost.

He glanced around the room. Someone near the casket noticed him.

“John?” she said, fainting. Was that his sister? John stared in confusion. Speechless, he glanced in the coffin. His body lay inside.

No Other Choice
by Janelle Jensen

He stared at the body lying before him. Her dead eyes stared accusingly. He dropped to his knees and plunged in. Hot blood wept over his hands and forearms, drenching the ground below. His hands closed around something solid, and he desperately withdrew his prize. Soaked in viscous fluid and shivering, the tiny calf bawled.

Ok, so now you give it a try and have fun with it!
