Winner 55 Word Challenge: Week Nineteen

Winner: 55 Word Challenge:
Week Nineteen

HM’s
@solimond I love the conversation between the cat and the boy.
@MikeEMillerBook I love the image of the demon car.
@DavidALudwig David made me chuckle with the line about the can opener.
Winner:
@LurchMunster I love chocolate and this story made me hungry. Enough said. Read the story for yourself.
“I’m in here,” she called from the kitchen. Chocolate was everywhere. She was in the middle of it all. Naked. A stream of chocolate running from her mouth, down her chin, almost to her chest. “I wanted to make something chocolate for you.” She pouted. “I failed.” I skipped dinner that night for desert...

55 words...

55 Word Challenge: Week Nineteen

55 Word Challenge
Week Nineteen
Welcome back to the #55WordChallenge. What? You've never heard of the 55 Word Challenge? You say you are new to this blog...or just been busy doing other things? Well, let me tell you, you are in for a treat!

For those that are uninitiated, the 55 Word Challenge is a contest to write a story in 55 words or less. Not an easy task, but fun and I have been blown away by some of the entries. See for yourself, all the past contests can be found here.

The challenge begins at noon Eastern time every Wednesday and ends at noon Thursday. The story is based on one of three photo prompts and can be written in any genre you choose. My only request is no porn. I don't want to hear graphic details. If it is erotic, make it titillating, not obscene. I know that can be done and done well.

The story is to be posted in the comment section below, along with your twitter handle or email address, so I can contact you if you are the winner. If you don't want to list your email address, send it to me at jezri@writing .com. I promise I won't distribute it, but if you are the winner I need a way to notify you and to send you your prize.

And what does the winner get? This purty badge for one. For two, a gift card for $5.00 from Amazon or from Barnes & Noble. (The prize will be rewarded within a week and sent to your email.)

Winner 55 Word Challenge: Week Seventeen

Winner 55 Word Challenge:
Week Seventeen

Sorry to be posting this so late. Wonky internet. I loved all the stories that were written and I wish I could have chosen them all.

Honorable Mentions:
@Rowanwolf66:  Damned hick called me yeller… made me laugh. I can imagine the anger, the rage. I especially loved the last lines.
@J_M_Blackman:  Jalisa managed to convey a lot in such a short time. I could imagine the fear at night, not being able to see the damage, the flooding…and then in the morning to view the utter devastation. A very terrifying tale.
@tollykit: Revenge is the perfect motivator for a story. I liked how Ellaine mentioned that the anger gave her strength to hold the wolf form. It put me into the mind’s eye of the wolf and the last line let me know why she was so angry.

Winner:
@zombiemechanics:  I love a good zombie story and one that includes werewolves has got my attention. I would love to read more about the life the main character leads and those that she lives with. It’s not easy raising a child in the zombie apocalypse but it sounds as though she has a great support system. (BTW, I love the name of the MC)

SAFE HOUSE

The mist of dawn covered the house in a shroud of silence.
This was when Lisa felt the safest, when the baby’s noise didn’t send her running to the peepholes to check for walkers. At the end of the road, a wolf yipped twice.
The all-clear signal.
“Daddy’s home!” She coed at the baby.

DM me your email addy and I will send you your gift card in a few days.

Now if everyone would take a look at this pretty blue bumpersticker? I am considering it, or one similar, for a monthly prize. Let me know what you think. How it would work is I would choose my favorite story from the winners each month. The only thing is I would need an actual address to mail it to. So let me know what you think. (BTW, I have to credit @theglitterlady for the idea. Her war cry was inspirational.)

Winner 55 Word Challenge: Week Sixteen

Winner 55 Word Challenge:
Week Sixteen

This wasn’t easy. I read and re-read most of the stories until I finally got it down to my four favorites. So here it is…
 Honorable Mentions:
@caramichaels: I loved where this story went.  Ambition is a good thing, but it can be the downfall of a lot of people. Makes me wonder if Alice is desperate enough for success to drink the elixir.
@klingorengi : Sometimes I think I am a bad influence on Jeff. He used to write such nice stories. Now he’s gotten he horror bug and I love this particular one. The line, Any living thing had to rest eventually, roped me in, hook, line and sinker.
@michelawalters: Again, I am a sucker for great punch lines. “Now who’s dessert?” was that line for me.

Winner:
@tollykit wins this week, which I believe makes this her second win. Like I said before, I may have to come up with a special prize for winning more than once. Maybe after winning 5 times?
I came back to this story again and again. Read it and you will see why.

Tall, dark and handsome. My mouth watered as the heady scent of warm musk hit me. Anticipation flowed through my veins as I dealt the cards, and painted a future of love and wealth. And when he was at his happiest I drank him dry; savouring every drop. The cards never lie, but I do.
