55 Word Challenge: Week Fourteen

55 Word Challenge
Week Fourteen

It’s time again for the 55 Word Challenge. This week Stevie McCoy, AKA @theglitterlady, and host of Tuesday Tales, is judging. She is also the author of The Seedless, a fun children's book.
For those that are uninitiated, the 55 Word Challenge is a contest to write a story in 55 words or less. Not an easy task, but fun and I have been blown away by some of the entries. See for yourself, all the past contests can be found here.
The challenge begins at noon Eastern time every Wednesday and ends at noon Thursday. The story is based on one of three photo prompts and can be written in any genre you choose. My only request is no porn. I don't want to hear graphic details. If it is erotic, make it titilating, not obsene. I know that can be done and done well.

The story is to be posted in the comment section below, along with your twitter handle or email address, so I can contact you if you are the winner.
And what does the winner get? This purty badge for one. For two, a gift card for $5.00 from Amazon. (The prize will be rewarded within a week and sent to your email.)

Photo Prompt

As usual, have fun!

Shameless Promo:

Find out how to get one of these books free by reviewing the other book. Jezri's Nightmares Summer Reading Program. Two different books each week.

  1. Well how could I not after getting a nice Twitter mention about the contest right before I was about to hit the bed. My Twitter is @JXilon and here's my entry:

“Look. Kid. I know this is hard for you to understand so I’m going to speak slowly,” said Sam as he stood to look out the window.

“You see that guy Billy? He delivers milk. You cry loud enough about your hungry tummy hurting and we’ll both be swimming in the white stuff.”

  2. “What are you doing, Kit?”

“Shh! Just look for a moment.”

“I don’t see anything. What are we looking for?”

    “Grasshopppers.”

    “But why?”

Kit sighed. “I told you, if you want to learn the way of the Cat, you must find your inner kitten.”

“Then can I pull your tail?”

    Kit sighed again. “Yes.”

  3. Paris, the City of Lights. The view from my hotel room window is spectacular, as the lights twinkle like stars against the deep purple sky. The balcony is small, but adequate for my purposes. I step forward without a sound and the wind rushes quickly past me. The day is dying and so am I.

  4. Cat and boy stood at attention, staring out the grimy window as the boy’s father approached. In his arms he held the beast, which writhed and yelped.
“I knew it, Vincenzo. This is the end.”
They watched as Papa placed the creature on the ground.
    “What will I do?”
“Max, chill! It’s just a puppy.”

  5. "See, kid, I told you... That dog is up to no good. You have to go tell your mom."
"But, Fluffy, Mom said to stay outside and leave her alone unless it's an emergency." He explained, adjusting his hat nervously.
"This is an emergency, kid. That dog is eating my Fancy Feast!"

  6. “You’re sure he’s in there?”
    “Yes.”
    “You weren’t seeing things?”
    “No.”
“Good, then we won’t have to stay like this for much longer; it’s killing me to walk on all fours!”
“How do you think I feel? I’ve barely got control of my body!”
“He’d better have his wand with him!”

  7. Rowan tread into the wood again when autumn turned to the withered shadows of winter.

Leaves the color of fire quivered under her footfalls, wafting silently with the aroma of burning cinnamon – the peculiar scent she always carried.

Rowan spread her hand beneath the ray of sunlight, knowing nothing would happen.

    This time, something did.

  8. “You gotta get outta here,” Marc said to the little boy. “This place is way too dangerous.”

Marc stood on his hind legs to look through the small window and the boy followed him. They did not see anyone. The cat batted at the window with his paw and it popped open.

    “Quick through there.”

  9. Wind from the window was slapping her face and the whir of overhead blades, overwhelming her senses.
Her hand bit into his comforting grasp.
He spoke but she only felt his warm breath.
Outside, the Eiffel Tower glowed; a lit French giant saluting them.
He kissed her forehead and said in her ear, “happy anniversary.”

  10. With the words chanted three times, the spell was cast.
Angelica could only wait in darkening wood, hoping her magic wouldn’t fail her this night.

For tonight, on the eve of the longest day, she planted the seed that would soon mature and fester until it had grown into the thing she most desired.

    Revenge.

  11. "I told you there was something fishy about your mum," Snowball says, tail twitching.

Duffy flicks the cat's whiskers. "Don't see nothin' strange."

"Kid, your mum is wearing mouse ears."

"Yeah, 'cuz she was a Mouseketeer."

    "And what is that, exactly?"

He tugs his cap. "Don't rightly know. Criminy. You think she's the company rat?"

  12. June 1940 - Paris
The engine roared as they neared their target.
“God, the place is beautiful. Are you sure you have our orders correct?”
    The pilot nodded, lips drawn.
“But what about all the people?”
“You should stop caring about such filth.”
The co-pilot swallowed his moral upheaval. “Heil Hitler!”
    And the bombs dropped away.

  13. An Equitable Arrangement

Not glancing away from the dusty warehouse window, Ambrose whispered to his young accomplice, “Okay kid, place looks quiet. Now, remember our arrangement. I’ll be your lookout while you grab all the candy you can carry. In exchange, you open me up an extra can of food every day next week. Ready? Let’s do this!”

  14. “Stick with me kid, and we’ll break out of this place.”

Of course the tiny human didn’t know what I was talking about. He was good cover, the dog would never suspect a thing and I could live high on the tuna boat once I was free.

My tail twitched when I saw the dog.

  15. His eyes bored through the dusty window. Every hair on his body stood erect as he tried to see through the darkness that enveloped the room below.

His heart stuttered as a pair of golden eyes looked up. Blood dripped from the creature's whiskers. He turned to the boy beside him and whispered. "Run".

  16. Cat did not have thumbs.

Tiny human did. “It’s simple,” said Cat. “Open door. Get cheese.”

Tiny human squashed Cat’s ears. “Bah,” it said. “Meeshbah.”

Cat sighed. “And yet you rule the world.” She flicked her tail and bound off.

With a screech of glee, Tiny Human followed.

And Cat certainly did not smile.

  17. "We'll always have Paris." isn't that what the movie said?

Standing at the balcony of her hotel room Jenny looked upon the city of light. It was their 60th wedding anniversary. They'd met here, her a nurse and Jim a GI from Omaha.

She reached for his urn and poured his ash onto the night.

  18. Standing on the wet curb, I could see the tower. Its lights reached the ground even from there, glistening on the pavement in a dancing myriad, as ever changing and fickle as I am.

I told him to meet me at the tower. But I’d never show. And he’d never know why.

    Neither would I.

  19. Trick

Candy hated the outfit, pumpkins, small town idiots who mocked her gifts.

“We need a Miss October, and Halloween is your holiday, right?” Like Samhain was a joke.

Gran always said ‘Go along to get along.’ For years, Candy obeyed. Tonight, she’d give them real magic, starting with the blood-thirsty pixie by her side.

  20. Was playing taxi driver for my kids so I am late with this. 55 Word Challenge is now closed and in the hands of @theglitterlady. Thank you all for such wonderful entries. I am glad I don't have to be the one to choose this week, because it would be hard to narrow it down.
